HelpAge International's vision is one of a world where older people fulfill their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. We are an international network, bringing together more than 114 affiliates and 200 partners working with older people in over 50 countries. HelpAge is now looking for a Programme Officer, ADCB to support the implementation of the Ageing and Disability Capacity Building (ADCB) Programme.

The project forms part of the Start Network’s “START Build” portfolio designed to strengthen Civil Society Capacity. The START Network is a consortium of 19 leading humanitarian NGOs, collaborating to strengthen civil society to improve humanitarian assistance. The collaboration represents a node in an international civil society network which extends to over 6000 organisations, working in over 200 countries and territories. The long term vision is to strengthen civil society’s pro-active capacity to respond and prepare for crises, to transform the way NGOs approach capacity building, and to foster innovation through collaborative working. These objectives aim to help civil society adapt and respond to the growing demands of the future. With support from the Department for International Development (DFID) through the visionary Disasters Emergency Preparedness Programme (DEPP) and in partnership with the Communicating with Disaster Affected Communities Network (CDAC-N) the Start Network is launching an ambitious suite of projects designed to develop decentralised approaches to capacity building and to improve the quality and speed of humanitarian response in countries at risk of natural disaster or conflict related humanitarian emergencies.

The ADCB programme is a global initiative and will be implemented through the Age and Disability (A&D) Consortium led by HelpAge International. The Programme Officer will facilitate the implementation of the ADCB programme activities in Pakistan and Kenya, support all members of the consortium with smooth and effective collaboration and develop an effective communication strategy to capture the learning from the programme and disseminate it within the Age and Disability Consortium and the wider humanitarian sector.

Strong candidates will have substantial experience in development/humanitarian organisations and strong empirical knowledge of the humanitarian sector.
