The National Democratic Institute (NDI) seeks to hire a Senior Program Assistant to work with the Asia team in Washington, DC and support democratic development projects. This position is available in January 2015.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under supervision and direction, provides administrative, program and logistical support to NDI’s DC and field teams;
  • Under supervision and direction, contributes to the development of program reports, proposal drafts, work plans and program materials;
  • Supports senior staff in monitoring program budgets, grants and expenditures;
  • Conducts research on program-related issues;
  • Monitors political events in assigned countries and provides written and verbal updates to program staff, as needed;
  • Attends meetings to keep up to date on team, region or partner-related developments;
  • Trains interns on tasks.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management or a related field; Master’s degree preferred;

  • A minimum of two (2) years work experience in grant management support on projects funded by USAID, U.S. Department of State and/or non-US government donors (foreign government aid agencies and embassies, and/or multilateral institutions);

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills to effectively present information, respond to questions and prepare written reports in a professional and timely manner;

  • Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;

  • Must be detailed-oriented, organized and efficient;

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines;

  • Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications;

  • Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.);

  • Working knowledge of budget and accounting procedures.
