Background Information
UNOPS is looking for a new colleague to join our Partnerships Practice Group (PPG), to expand and build on our network with EU institutions and to support UNOPS business strategies to expand our global portfolio. We’re looking for an excellent networker, someone who can build on and develop our existing partnership with the EU. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience working with strategic partnerships and a good understanding of the EU and development context, as well as outstanding networking and communication skills. This role offers a demanding and exciting opportunity to contribute to UNOPS global partnerships team.
The Partnerships Practice Group supports UNOPS efforts to build closer ties with partners across the full spectrum of UNOPS activities. By forging strategic relationships and working with partners, both in the field and at headquarters, PPG seeks to not only ensure high partners satisfaction with UNOPS project implementation and support, but also to integrate best practices and innovative solutions from experienced non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector into UNOPS operations. Based in Copenhagen, PPG has active liaison offices in New York, Geneva, Brussels, Washington DC, and Nairobi and supports partners such as the World Bank, the European Union, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, the United Nations Mine Action Service, UNEP, the Global Fund, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and others.
Functional Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of the Partnership Practice Group (PPG) the incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of the UNOPS /EU partnership strategy. He/she will analyze UNOPS’ present status in the EC, pursue partnership and business opportunities, build on existing partnerships and ensure that actions and initiatives undertaken are aimed at improving the business and partnership management systems needed by UNOPS to achieve long-term success as a self-financing UN organization that provides value generating services to the EC.

Partnering and networking: Capacity to build, initiate and sustain relationships with the EC and EC institutions; communicates sensitively and effectively across different EC institutions.
· Solid experience in developing and implementing business and partnership strategies, preferably in a self-financing and internationally diverse environment.
· Broad understanding of UNOPS' mission and its partners, UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations, as well as UN mandates and the ability to work in its political environment.
Broad understanding of EC funds, programs, rules and regulations.
· Exceptional team contribution skills; ability to stay focused under pressure and to execute tough decisions.
· Strategic vision, strong operational and analytical capacities, sound judgment.
Excellent negotiation skills.
· Very good organizational skills and ability to handle effectively multiple tasks without compromising quality, team spirit and positive working relationships with colleagues.
Dependability and reliability, initiative and the ability to accept responsibility.
Ability to manage the day-to-day operations.
· Global mind-set with sensitivity to diverse cultures and workforce. A high level of energy and enthusiasm for leading a self-financing service organization within the UN system.

· Familiarity with the broader UN system and its governance systems and structures.

· Knowledge of and experience in using ERP/financial systems such as PeopleSoft, IMIS and mastery of Microsoft Office including EXCEL
