In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, causing displacement of civilians and increasing pressures on resources and host communities, NRC is about to start up an emergency response programme.
In the coming months, main focus is for NRC to provide support to mitigate the impact of harsh climatic conditions.
For 2015 NRC’s plan is to establish a long term Country Programme, in line with NRC’s mission statement and core competencies development of additional programme.
NRC is therefore seeking a Shelter Coordinator in NRC Ukraine for 2015.
The Shelter Coordinator reports to the Programme Development Manager
Job description
- Management of shelter project field staff
- Adherence to shelter tools and handbooks and other NRC policies
- Contribute to shelter strategy development and provide input on needs and gaps from relevant area
- Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Shelter projects (activities, budget and project documentation) and ensure high technical quality
- Develop and implement correct data tracking and monitoring tools for all interventions
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
- Develop and manage project budget
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
- Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years’ experience from working in a shelter project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context. Additional experience from working in a WASH project implementation position would be an advantage.
- Experience with start-up of shelter or related programmes is an asset
- Higher education, preferably within architecture or engineering or related fields of study
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts and knowledge of the context in Ukraine will be an asset
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian language will be an advantage
- Valid driver’s license

We offer
- Commencement: March 2015 or before
- Contract period:12 months
- Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions
- Duty station: Easter Ukraine with extensive travel to project locations in the field. Easter Ukraine is not a family duty station.
