Senior Researcher
Requirements:
· Educated to Master’s level
· Professional research experience
· Fluency in English and excellent concise writing skills
· Experience in presenting to a senior level audience
· Advanced knowledge of a second language required, Arabic preferred
· Rigorous attention to detail
· Significant international experience
· Knowledge of US market
· At least six months experience in a related field of research
· Professional experience writing for web publication
Position Summary:
This is primarily a senior research position, which requires a suitable candidate to undertake extensive research into countries or issue areas to be addressed on the site. A successful candidate will be able to present high-level, accurate, independent and impartial research reports in concise and accessible language for publication. He/she will also be able to locate, and build relationships with, a wide variety of relevant individuals across sectors as part of an extensive process of formulating action recommendations for iguacu. Experience presenting to senior management level meetings is also required. Candidates should also have the skills required and professional experience in undertaking methodological analysis. A willingness to assist with other adhoc projects and tasks as they arise is also necessary .
Examples of tasks and responsibilities:
· Research sources for accurate factual material to be used in ongoing projects for the site
· Write reports on humanitarian issues for web publication
· Locate and liaise and build relationships with experts relevant to iguacu projects (i.e. area experts from a wide range of public and private sector organisations, NGOs, INGOs, academia, think tanks, humanitarian workers, civil society representatives etc)
· Conduct research on an organisation
· Liaise with relevant organisations to arrange for restricted funding appeals
· Share learning and collaborate with the research team to generate new project ideas
· Liaise with the senior management and senior personnel of external organisations
· Refine and employ methodological tools as part of iguacu’s new country selection process
· Research and write updates for site pages
· Manage contacts in centralized database
· Contribute to ongoing communications and fundraising campaigns by providing research into sources
