DPI seeks an overall ‘trouble-shooter’ and ‘go-getter’ who will provide administrative logistical and research assistance to the Director, and where relevant the Deputy Director. Responsibilities will include liaising with senior staff once decisions have been made on the logistical details in line with the Director’s needs and the organisational mandate; this will include: arranging meetings, travel, and accommodation; preparing speeches and presentations; maintaining the schedule of the Director and maintaining organisation and confidentiality of information and materials. Impeccable written and oral English grammar required.

Essential skills/knowledge:

· Strong editing skills including spelling, grammar and fluency in English

· Professional demeanour when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone

· Capacity to work in a high pressured environment while remaining calm

· Ability to take initiative and prioritise tasks, excellent time-management, problem-prevention, and problem solving skills

· Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

· Strong IT skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite and knowledge of and strong willingness to learn about IT, with specific attention to Mac products and systems

· Willingness to travel in Europe, the US, the Middle East and North Africa as necessary

· Reacts with flexibility and a sense of humour to problems and surprises

· Desire for learning & refining skills and knowledge base

· 0-2 years experience in an executive or personal assistant role

Highly Desirable

· Human rights, conflict resolution / peace-building background

· Written and Oral skills in French

· Demonstrated interest/ commitment to human rights and/or charity work
