Strong and credible evidence is at the heart of Oxfam’s drive to increase its impact. This position plays a key role within Oxfam - helping to improve and increase the profile and rigour of evaluations within the organisation.
The Role
The Global Impact Evaluation Advisor is responsible for designing and conducting impact evaluations of selected resilience-building projects, including leading data collection processes, and carrying out data analysis and report writing. The post holder will also lead on building technical measurement tools on resilience, contribute to the debate on hard-to-measure outcomes, and engage with internal and external audiences.
The role will be responsible for providing both on-site and remote technical support to our in-country teams and partners, building their capacity, and supporting them to engage with, and learning from, evidence and evaluation. The Global Impact Advisor will be responsible for presenting on processes and findings within and outside of Oxfam and this work is central to efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of Oxfam’s work.
What we’re looking for
You will have a solid training and background in research and be educated to at least Masters level in a relevant subject, or have other relevant experience.
As well as statistical expertise and highly developed quantitative and econometric data analysis skills, you will have experience in planning, coordinating and prioritising research, and working to tight deadlines. You will have proven your ability to run large-scale, community-level surveys in low income countries and be adept at influencing stakeholders. You will also have a solid understanding of international development programming, and will have experience in building strong cross-cultural relationships and working as part of a team in the field. Critically, you will also be skilled at communicating complex technical concepts and evaluation findings to programme staff and partners, and have demonstrable experience of supporting evaluation utilisation.
This is a fixed term contract of 18 months.
Role is Oxford based, though other international locations may be considered with Oxford induction of at least 6 months.
