We are recruiting a Programme Development Coordinator (PDC), who will work with the field teams to ensure relevant funding for two country programmes. This role will focus, at least in the first instance, on our programmes under the Syrian refugee project in Jordan and Northern Iraq. New potential expansions into other countries in the region such as Gaza will be considered, through our sister organisation War Child Holland. Approximately 50% of the work will be assisting field team develop project concepts and submitting institutional proposals, a further 40% in reporting and grant management, and 10% in developing relationships with established and new humanitarian donors. Additionally, the PDC will offer programme information to the communication and fundraising teams.

The PDC will provide critical support to the Country Directors ensuring all reports are clear, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. He/ She will also provide critical support to field teams in designing high-quality emergency projects and evidence-based proposals compliant with donor guidelines, in child protection, education and livelihoods.

A special focus will be given to Child Protection and Education in Emergencies projects. The PDC will also be supporting the Programmes team in London to access new humanitarian donors and support WCUK’s emergency preparedness efforts. The PDC will be line managed by the Operations Grants Manager (OGM). The OGM will provide direction on fundraising issues, including proposal development, writing methodology, strategic alignment and programme development.

The PDC will be UK based although there will be opportunities to travel to the country programme they support to provide proposal development, reporting and evaluation support; subject to security considerations.

**Terms and conditions

  • Preferred start date: February 2015 (negotiable for the right candidate)
  • Salary: Between £31,000 - £33,000 (depending on experience)
  • Pension: up to 5% of gross salary to be matched by employee
  • Leave: 28 days per year, plus one extra day for every full year of employment (up to a maximum of 33 days)
  • Working hours: 37.5 hour week

Interviews will be held on 6 January 2015 (TBC). Candidates will meet with some of the wider War Child programmes team and will also be expected to complete a short assessment test.

o The successful applicant will be expected to undergo a CRB check, a medical check for overseas travel purposes, be compliant and sign up to War Child’s Child Protection Policy prior to a final offer being made.
