About the Role

Your role would manage the proposal writing team, ensuring that the team supports Corporate, Trusts and Foundations and Major Donor account management teams, and on occasion institutional proposals, to secure dramatic income growth and provide high quality proposals to our donors. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced manager who will bring with them a passion to work for Save the Children, a commitment to support our team prepare high quality and compelling fundraising materials and a focus on the management and development of our team, processes and systems.

You would be part of a successful 11 person team which includes Head of Proposal Development, Proposal Writer Manager, four Proposal Writers, three Corporate Grant Managers, a Signature Programmes Funding Officer and a Match Funding Officer.

Our team is part of the Programme Partnerships department, in the Global Programmes division. Over the past year, the department has achieved unprecedented growth and we have set ourselves even more ambitious growth targets for the next few years to increase our impact for children. The Proposal Writer Manager role is critical in ensuring our department meets these targets, maintains a focus on quality and maximises the expertise within our team.

About You

You will have a proven track record within the development sector in writing successful:

• High value fundraising proposals, securing significant donations (from Corporates, Trust and Foundations and/ or Major Donors) or
• Tender proposals/ bids for institutional proposals

The Proposal Writer Manager will also be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills, project management and excellent communication skills and have proven experience of managing relationships in complex organisations with numerous stakeholders. You will have excellent people and team management skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff in a wide range of contexts and support their development objectives.

What we offer

In return we offer a negotiable salary of £37,000 - £39,000 + Benefits + pension, structured career development, travel and the opportunity to join a team at the leading edge of proposal development.

Please note this is a maternity cover for up to 12 months, ideally commencing employment from January 2015.
