Albania: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Training Consultant

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as a GBV training consultant.

Who are we?
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. As part of its humanitarian response to the Syrian crisis, DRC Lebanon has set up, since 2012 activities aiming at ensuring that women and girls are protected from gender-based violence (GBV) in emergencies. Since early 2012, DRC established five Women Resource Centers (WRC) in North and Central Bekaa, Akkar, Tripoli and South. All programming is implemented through a survivor-centred approach that prioritizes confidentiality, dignity, safety, and respect. The overall strategy is to ensure women and girls have access to life-saving case management, psychosocial services, and social networks and socio-economic empowerment activities. As part of its sustainable intervention in Lebanon, DRC has a comprehensive capacity building programs of local actors on GBV prevention and response.
The GBV training consultant will work at strenghtening the capacity of one local actor on GBV prevention and response through initial capacity assessment, development of coaching plan, provision of trainings and follow up on the implementation of the training and tools developed (including field visits for on-the-job coaching). The partner will be training on GBV prevention and response for frontline workers. This component will be tailored to the capacity of the partners but will include at least identification and referrals, disclosure and provision of basic psychosocial support to GBV survivors. The overall activity will be implemented through a training consultant that will be recruited for a duration of 50 days over a period of 3 months. Following the three month-period, the consultant will finalize a capacity building report including recommendations on the way forward.

Duties
• Oversee and ensure achievements of capacity building plans through development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools including pre and post-tests
• Undertake a capacity assessment of the local partner on GBV prevention and response;
• Develop comprehensive and tailored capacity building plans for GBV staff and implementing partners based on respective needs and ensuring quality services;
• Facilitate 2 to 4 trainings on GBV prevention and response, and more specifically on identification and safe and confidential referrals of GBV survivors, disclosure of GBV cases and guiding principles, risk identification and mitigation interventions.
• Ensure that staff adhere to GBV best-practice and professional standard and principles through capacity-building and on-the-job support;
• Identify technical gaps in the program and identify/implement solutions to meet these gaps;
• Undertake field visits to measure implementation of the capacity building plans;
• Produce final report with recommendations for future capacity building interventions.

About you
To be successful in this role you must have University degree or higher education relevant to social work, women’s studies or other relevant fields;
Thorough understanding of best practices and strategies in GBV response (case management, psychosocial support, etc.) and GBV primary prevention and risk reduction. ;
Experience in conducting training needs analysis/assessments and developing training programs for a broad range of audiences from different institutional levels;
At least 3 years of proven international experience in undertaking trainings and capacity building initiatives; Proven experience working in emergency settings; Solid experience with planning, reporting, monitoring and evaluation skills; Experience in GBV response and prevention and
experience in building capacities of local partners and providing direct technical support to local organizations.
Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Ideally you will also have significant knowledge of International Human Rights Law, with stress on Refugee Law and Previous experience in institutional development, capacity development projects/programs related to gender issues

We offer
An interesting consultancy position in one of the best NGO’s in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 50 days consultancy contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 1st of October and be willing and able to work in Beirut with frequent field travel.
