The Humanitarian Evidence, Effectiveness & Accountability Advisor is a key role in the Humanitarian Evidence, Effectiveness & Accountability Team which sits within the Humanitarian Technical Unit (HTU) as part of Save the Children UK’s Humanitarian Department. The primary purpose of the Humanitarian Technical Unit (HTU) is to ensure a high level of quality in Save the Children emergency response programmes. In addition to the Evidence, Effectiveness & Accountability team, the HTU comprises technical specialists from the fields of Education, Child Protection, Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihoods, Health, WASH and Shelter.

About the role

A key responsibility will be to support rapid-onset and up-scaling chronic emergency responses to ensure adequate and sustainable monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) resource and provision of advisory support, with the primary aim of improving programme effectiveness (including quality) and accountability. However, this role will also have considerable responsibility for delivering strategic projects to support the achievement of effective and accountable responses, with a particular focus on improving accountability to children and their families. It will also support efforts to ensure our programmes are based on sound evidence and contribute to producing evidence that feeds into our cycles of learning within and between emergency responses. The post holder will also represent Save the Children in external and internal initiatives associated with promoting effectiveness and accountability in emergency responses. The main place of work is London with up-to 12 weeks travel overseas per year.

About you

Throughout your current and previous project management and M&E experiences in the humanitarian sector, you have developed, designed and implemented monitoring and evaluation systems in rapid- onset responses. You also have demonstrated excellent understanding of quality, effectiveness and accountability initiatives in the humanitarian sector. You also have contributed to capacity building activities for M&E such as trainings. You have solid communication, analytical, and problem solving skills. You are flexible and willing to travel up to 12 weeks a year.

About the recruitment process
