Would you like to join a global team campaigning in support of people facing extreme challenges because of conflicts or disasters?
As a Humanitarian Policy Adviser for Oxfam GB, you can make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people around the world by influencing relevant decision-makers, ranging from government officials to UN country teams.
Based in the UK but with some overseas travel, your focus will be on research, policy development, political strategy, lobbying, and alliance-building. You will also provide expert analysis and advice to other colleagues on a range of humanitarian issues.
Working closely with media, policy and campaign colleagues, overseas offices, and other Oxfam affiliates, you will tackle some of the most challenging conflicts, especially in Africa, and new humanitarian crises. Your work will address various themes such as gender in conflict, protection of civilians, humanitarian access and the challenges facing the international humanitarian aid system.
To carry out this influential and exciting role, you’ll be an excellent communicator and strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills. You’ll have the ability to analyse complex humanitarian and political issues and devise appropriate solutions. You’ll also be familiar with international humanitarian contexts and policy issues (especially in Africa).
