Child Protection in Europe – Research and Fundraising Internship opportunity

Description

The Regional Office of Terre des hommes, a major child rights NGO, is looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the context of development and child protection in Europe, including donors’ landscapes and requirements, to support the development of unique and innovative regional projects on child protection and child migration related issues in Europe. This exciting volunteer internship opportunity has arisen within the Regional Office for Central and South Eastern Europe to be part of and contribute to, the development strategy of the organization.

Conditions

This is an internship position to be filled as soon as possible for a minimum of three months.

This internship is unpaid (with monthly local transportation pass provided) and based in Budapest, Terre des hommes Regional Office.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to knowledge management and research on major child protection issues in the region
  • Collect, compile and process up-to-date data and information on various issues related to violence against children and child migration in Europe
  • Support the coordination and organization of regional contributions to the World Congress on Juvenile Justice organized by Terre des hommes and the Swiss Government in January 2015
  • Develop a list of donors and potential fundraising opportunities in the region
  • Contribute to proposals development and fundraising initiatives

Requirements

Students applying for this internship position will need strong critical thinking skills in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team who are very excited to share these exciting regional developments with an intern hoping to gain a ton of great experiences in development and child rights in Eastern Europe.

S/He should have:

  • A background in International Relations, European Union Studies, International Human Rights Law, Law, Communications or other relevant subjects
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the political situation and developments in Central and South East Europe
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and particularly in writing
  • In-depth understanding of EU decision making processes
  • Knowledge of child rights and international child rights agencies and/or monitoring bodies an asset
  • Previous professional experience in a research position an asset
  • Experience with websites and media is an asset
