Colombia: National Influencing Advisor (Spanish Speaking)

Organization: Oxfam GB
Country: Colombia, Mexico, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 03 Oct 2014

Oxfam’s purpose is to help create lasting solutions to the injustice of poverty. We are part of a global movement for change, one that empowers people to create a future that is secure, just, and free from poverty.By working with key partners in developing countries, we can address not just specific instances of poverty and deprivation, but the causes of them. As one of our new National Influencing Advisors, you’ll help lead colleagues and partners’ work to make this vision a reality, giving you an incredible opportunity to make a major difference to our fight, globally.

The role

To do this , you will need a global mind-set. You’ll work with key teams in a number of developing countries to transform the quality of their leadership and delivery on advocacy and campaigning. That will see you raising funds for these programmes, advising on programme or campaign strategy and best practice, coaching staff, and developing monitoring, evaluation and learning tools and processes. In particular you’ll use your Spanish language skills and media experience to support Oxfam teams and partner in Latin America. At the heart of that work will be building relationships with stakeholders to increase each programmes impact, and working with them to develop strategic plans within a long-term vision.

What we’re looking for

For a role of this importance, you’ll need a track record of designing and delivering influencing, campaigning and advocacy programmes. That experience should have profoundly developed your ability to be a motivator and leader of change, drawing on your excellent communication skills to drive transformative programmes in collaboration with multiple teams. The role itself could be based in any Latin American country that has an Oxfam office that can host it, that has good international transport and internet connections and that you have the right to work in. The role could also be based in Oxford, assuming you have the right to work in the UK. You will be expected to travel extensively - approximately once a month for most working months of the year. In certain circumstances (such as political or humanitarian crises) you may be expected to do longer support visits.
