Switzerland: Project Assistant, Operations Middle East & North Africa (50-100%)

DCAF’s Operations Middle East and North Africa Division is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to support the Middle East desk in the development, follow-up and coordination of activities.

Tasks and responsibilities will mainly consist of the following:
• Assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of security sector reform projects in the Middle East region
• Review periodic expense reports
• Assist the editing and layout review of publications
• Conduct research on issues relevant to security sector governance and reform in the Middle East
• Carry out logistical and administrative tasks for the smooth running of the Middle East desk

Candidates should meet the following criteria:
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic, French or another language is an asset
• University degree in one of the following areas: International Relations, Conflict Resolution, Law, Development, Security, Peace Studies, Political Sciences, or Humanities
• Experience in project planning, monitoring, evaluation and budgeting
• Capacity to write and review reports in English for publication
• Sense of detail
• Proven ability to multitask and manage several demanding projects at once
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Experience working in an international team; cultural sensitivity, ideally familiarity with the Arab world • Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland

Position location: Geneva, Switzerland Starting date: as soon as possible Duration: 12 months, with possibility of extension
