DESCRIPTION
The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC), a program of the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy (WFM-IGP), is recruiting for a French Communications Assistant for its international secretariat in The Hague, the Netherlands, to begin in March 2015.
The successful applicant will be responsible for CICC French communications activities, in particular French translations, digital communications and social media management. They will also assist the Head of Communications with the implementation of wider CICC communication strategies. This position requires excellent language capabilities, strong oral and written skills, a creative mindset, an ability to work under pressure, an interest in digital communications, a willingness to learn, and an affinity with the CICC’s mission.
The CICC includes 2,500 civil society organizations in 150 different countries working in partnership to strengthen international cooperation with the ICC; ensure that the Court is fair, effective and independent; make justice both visible and universal; and advance stronger national laws that deliver justice to victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. The ICC is the first permanent Court with the mandate to bring to justice individuals who commit the most serious violations of international humanitarian law, namely genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the French Communications Assistant will include but are not limited to:
- Translating (English-French and French-English) various CICC content: publications, press releases, website, email, blog, letters, etc.;
- Interpretation into French during meetings on an ad hoc basis;
- Liaising with francophone CICC members as requested;
- Assisting the Head of Communications and communications section as requested;
- Assisting with media relations and strategy;
- Managing French social media platforms;
- Managing French web content;
- Developing and implementing content strategy for website, blog and social media outlets;
- Creating and editing videos, photos, infographics and other content;
- Assisting with research and drafting of articles;
- Developing creative ideas social media campaigns and reporting;
- Monitoring developments in online media;
- Attending and assisting with lectures and events related to international justice in The Hague;
- Supporting staff and undertake special projects and assignments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
We are interested in applicants whose studies were related to Translation; International Relations, Political Science, Law, Journalism, Digital Communications and/or other relevant fields;
- Native French/near native French required;
- Proficiency in English required;
- Experience translating preferred; experience interpreting an asset;
- Experience in the field of Human Rights and/or International Justice preferred;
- Experience with nonprofit and/or journalism preferred;
- Experience with digital communications and social media management preferred;
- Familiarity with website development and online content production and strategy an asset;
- Familiarity with photography and video production an asset;
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites an asset;
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and HTML, Google Analytics, and MailChimp an asset;
- Demonstrated interest in international justice and NGO work.
