Contract Length: 12 Months

The Role:

The aim of a Health Cluster is to ensure a more coherent and effective humanitarian response by all international, national and local actors operating in the health sector in areas affected by crisis.

The Information Manager will contribute to the good performance of the Health Working Group/Cluster, whilst upholding the Humanitarian Principles and the Principles of Partnership. The Health Working Group/Cluster performance, in turn, will be monitored and evaluated according to the extent by which the activities and programmes of the Health Working Group/Cluster members meet the health needs of the crisis-affected populations.

In holding the position, hosted by an International non-governmental organisation, the Health Working Group/Cluster Information Manager will have specific responsibility for providing support on information management to Syrian and international non-governmental organisation members of the Health Working Group/Cluster, and will play a lead role in developing the technical capacity in information management of Syrian non-governmental organisation members of the Health Working Group/Cluster.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

• Degree in biostatistics or public health/epidemiology and at least five years of experience in health information management/knowledge management in humanitarian settings.
• Strong skills in health data management and analysis, including knowledge of and familiarity with handling large datasets (Excel, Access, Spss, Stata, Epi-Data, or others), an ability to organize and present data in user-friendly formats, proven statistical analytic skills, and data capture, storage/file management and analysis and report generation.
• Experience of humanitarian needs assessments, surveys, and monitoring and evaluation
• At least two-year's field and headquarters experience in a relevant humanitarian international organization(s) (e.g. United Nations agencies, international non-governmental organisations, international organisations, donors, International Federation of the Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross).
• Previous experience of cluster coordination or participation at international and national levels.
• Strong understanding of health sector and cluster approaches.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people from diverse backgrounds
• Strong presentation and analytical skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently, well-organized and able to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow up on tasks to completion.
• Good working knowledge of English. Working knowledge of spoken Arabic a definite asset.
• Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.

Desirable

• Experience using Geographic Information Systems.

• Experience with qualitative research methods.
