The Technical & Advisory department within the International division manages the provision of thematic technical and advisory specialist services. We require a Health Advisor to provide high quality technical advice and support the building of resilience of vulnerable communities in Africa, the Middle East and Asia through the actions of our Red Cross Movement partners.
As the Health Adviser, you will promote linkages and integration between health and care, HIV, food security an livelihoods, organisational preparedness and disaster risk reduction, recognising the role of health as both essential assistance to beneficiaries and an entry point for the capacity building for National Societies. You will develop and lead field based assessments, planning, monitoring and evaluating health and care related programmes and activities supported by the British Red Cross. You will also assist in identifying and promoting initiatives that build our partners’ capacities to implement high quality health and care related programmes. As part of the Health/WASH team you will be responsible for continuing to build and maintain British Red Cross’ relationships with Health practitioners within the Movement and in the broader humanitarian sector.
The ideal candidate will have a graduate level professional nursing and/or health related medical qualification with postgraduate level professional qualification in related fields of international and/or community health. Your extensive experience will include:
· Working in health in an international response, recovery and development context;
· Developing and managing health programmes in a developing country;
· Building organisational partnerships and organisational capacity;
· Leading and developing people, including remote management of overseas based teams.
Please note this role will require the ability to travel for up to 90 days a year and to operate in a physically demanding working environment.
