INTRODUCTION

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a new international organization committed to strong, inclusive green growth. We assist developing and emerging countries with integrating their ambitions for strong economic performance and environmental sustainability with the goal of bringing about poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Headquartered in Seoul, GGGI was established by treaty in June 2012 at the United Nations Rio+20 Conference by an initial group of eighteen nations who share the organization's vision. As of 2014, there are total of 22 Member Countries who joined the organization.

GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries' development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Risk Management Specialist will focus on risk reducing instruments, including:

  • Monitoring the evolving global climate and infrastructure finance landscape and the range of publicly backed instruments that have been designed or are considered for development and deployment.
  • Post holder will also be skilled in analysis of third party financial models, preparation of pre-feasibility/feasibility studies, and assessment partner country enabling environments.
  • Be able to provide advice on transparent procurement and project approval processes, develop project selection and prioritization criteria,
  • Improve project risk/reward profiles, provide guidance on project preparation,
  • Identify residual (non-project) risks, advise on credit enhancement, guarantees and exchange rate hedging, and prepare and deliver pitches for senior debt and advisory mandates.
  • Operational engagement with financial institutions will be undertaken with strategic inputs from SPC

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: MBA or Masters level in economics, finance, or related fields;
  • Minimum 7 years of total experience with significant experience in infrastructure finance - preferably including renewable energy gained in commercial banking, a public finance institution or within the project finance department of an asset owning company
  • Experience in project due diligence, risk management, deployment of risk mitigation instruments a must
  • Good knowledge of the international public climate finance as well as infrastructure finance architecture a must
  • Experience of working in multi country context and international setting
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Spanish and/or is an advantage
