Organization: Accounting for International Development
Country: Bolivia (Plurinational State of), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, World
Closing date: 11 Oct 2014

With breath-taking landscapes, stunning scenery and a diverse range of culture, Bolivia is one of the most serenely beautiful countries on the planet; it is also one of the poorest. This grassroots organisation help to build skills for young people who would otherwise be at the mercy of the Bolivian slums and the work they do is indispensable in building futures for these children.

Many rural families move to the cities with the hope of finding prosperity, but so many fall through the cracks and find themselves in worse conditions both economically and socially. Our partner organisation works with children and families through a range of projects designed to allow a creative output that can enhance skills, confidence and provide a form of income. Through a range of artistic projects, our partner organisation hopes to play a pivotal role in the lives of those who have been affected worst by poverty.
Following the departure of the Director of our partner organisation, there has been a void to fill pertaining to the financial management and accounting elements. They urgently need someone like you - with your skills and experience in this field you could help this truly remarkable organisation in their time of need. If you have a working knowledge of QuickBooks, it could be put to great use in Bolivia, alongside any experience you have had working in the financial sector. Your expertise could help to change lives and improve the living conditions of countless Bolivian families whilst developing your own skills and broadening your horizon.

The need for one designated accountant to oversee all of the financial aspects of the organisation has never been higher. You would be working closely with the founder and the programme officers who are currently managing the book keeping individually. You would be the first volunteer here, and your role would be akin to undertaking a general assessment of their finance controls and systems, identifying any weaknesses, and implementing the changes which you deem necessary. You would assist the local staff in building and implementing a user-friendly system to track their accounts. This is your chance to make a visible difference to the lives of those in need, but also an opportunity for you to test your skills and gain hands on experience in the development sector.

Please note that for this assignment our partner would require a fluent Spanish speaker for this particular role.
