Germany: Facilitation Skills Trainer

The contracted consultant will work closely with the Skills Development Team and will report to the team lead of Programme Support and Coordination (PSC).

The trainer, on behalf of the organization, will:

1. Design and deliver (in English) one or more sessions on meeting facilitation and management,
2. Design an evaluation plan for the training
3. Develop and implement a peer-to-peer coaching mechanism in order to ensure a continuous feed-back and improvement process for programme participants.

The course topic includes:

• Meeting facilitation (1 day): facilitation of small internal meetings (e.g. project team meetings, team meetings or team retreats). Course should be developed using a blended learning approach incorporating instructor-led training, eLearning courses available in the UNFCCC LMS, peer-to-peer performance coaching.

The content of the course may vary slightly from the above, based on consultation with the Skills Development team and SDM management.

Responsibilities

In close collaboration with the Skills Development Team, the trainer/coach will be expected to carry out the following activities:

• Participate in conference calls with the Skills Development Team in order to define the learning objectives of the interventions, the format of the coaching sessions and the modalities of evaluation of the intervention.
• Prepare a course design document (incl. presentation slides and facilitator’s manual), learning objectives, an agenda for the learning intervention, learning materials and evaluation questions.
• Design and deliver one or more training sessions in Bonn for up to 25 participants.
• Introduce a peer-coaching and review system so that participants receive and give feed-back to their peers on the preparation and delivery of real sessions. Provide feedback on the participants’ facilitation skills to the Skills Development Team
