The successful candidate will carry out applied research and policy analysis in HPG. You will contribute under the supervision of the Head of HPG or a Research Fellow to developing, fundraising for, conducting and managing policy relevant, high-quality and innovative research, policy advice and public-affairs programmes, within the Institute’s overall strategy and with the aim of inspiring and informing policy.
You will also contribute to policy research and advisory projects, which are generally cross country and cross institutional, and will engage with policymakers in research and advisory processes, and disseminate results of research findings.

You will join a dynamic team, and will support the Head of HPG in strategy development, fundraising, research and public affairs, helping to drive a multidisciplinary and innovative programme.
About you
You will have:
- PhD in Humanitarian studies or equivalent PhD qualification where the dissertation focused on humanitarian studies, obtained not earlier than 2011
- active knowledge of key international institutions in the sector and beyond;
- experience in producing research outputs;
- significant experience in international policy-oriented research, demonstrated by publications and reports;
- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate successfully and demonstrate cultural awareness;
- excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills;
- good multi-tasking skills
- the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative;
- willingness to travel on a frequent basis.
