So if you’re passionate about helping others, and want to help us drive positive change across the world, join us. Christian Aid is now looking to recruit an innovative and dynamic Emergency Programme Officer for our humanitarian response to the Syria and Iraq crises.
About the role
Christian Aid is working together with our partners in the Middle East to respond to humanitarian crises. Our response has a strong rights base, focusing on enabling people to gain control over their lives and to influence the decisions that affect their lives.
Working to support our response to the Syria and Iraq humanitarian crises, you will help to co-ordinate Christian Aid’s appeal funded programmes being implemented by partners in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. You will work to enable our partners to implement a rapid, effective and principled response to emergencies, ensuring that it is in line with Christian Aid’s response strategy and implementation plans.
About you
You will be key to providing support to the team working on the Syria and Iraq humanitarian crises, working with the Middle East team and the humanitarian division as well as colleagues across Christian Aid to ensure the effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of the programme. You will be able to propose action that we should take in our response to the crises, and make day-to-day decisions to contribute to the implementation and smooth running of the programme.
You have experience of supporting emergency projects and/or programmes with local partners, preferably in the Middle East. You will have an understanding of the causes of the Syria and Iraq crises, direct experience of project cycle management approaches and tools, and knowledge of financial controls and procedures, including experience of monitoring large and complex budgets.
With well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll have a proven ability to communicate with different audiences. Fluent English is required and a working knowledge of Arabic preferred.
