HelpAge International helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations - the only one of its kind in the world. HelpAge International, in collaboration with its local partner (TLU), is implementing an emergency response to assist older people affected by the current conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
The Emergency Programme Manager will manage, coordinate and monitor the joint HelpAge-TLU emergency programme in Donbas region (Alchevak, Horlivka, Donetsk, Luganask, Khariv), in Ukraine. The role specifically includes field management of emergency distributions of food and non-food items, with a particular focus on winterization, and psychosocial support to vulnerable older people living in conflict-affected areas. The EPM will be seconded into TLU team, HelpAge’s partner in Ukraine, who will deliver the activities in the field through both staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience of managing international emergency responses. You should have demonstrated competence to develop winterization strategy in conflict-affected areas as well as understanding and experience of the needs and capacities of older people in emergencies. A coaching approach to management with an emphasis on staff development and capacity building is also essential.
