About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, highly skilled and experienced manager to play a role in our Large and Complex Programmes Division managing our work under the strategic Programme Partnership Agreement with DFID.

The post holder will provide senior management support for large externally funded programmes of work, with a specific focus on our DFID-funded PPA contracts. These consist of resilient livelihoods, community health and humanitarian projects across over 15 countries. The post
holder will be available to travel when needed to support country teams as they implement. When not travelling you will provide oversight management and play an important role in the Strategic Working Group that supports the mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues such as gender and equality, programme performance and value for money.

About you

You will have a proven track record of programme development, programme design, setting-up and managing large budget (multi-million pound) or complex programmes in a number of different geographies and of managing people effectively to achieve impact. You will possess excellent people skills and be an excellent leader and team player.

Based out of London you will be able to travel, often at short notice, sometimes to challenging environments and sometimes for extended periods (2-6 weeks at a time for up to 75 days a year) in order to provide the required support to country teams and partner organisations who are part of the programmes. You will have technical competencies in management and a keen interest and understanding of international development (e.g. sustainable development, livelihoods, environment, humanitarian, agriculture) and be able to represent the organisation and its programmes in key international networks and forums.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to mentor and accompany people and organisations to build capacity in managing large/complex programmes. You will have good analytical, written and communication skills and be able to work effectively with different actors – from donors, government, local organisations and communities. Your ability to work in French in addition to excellent English, will be an advantage in this role.
