Turkey: Programme Coordinator: Syrian Refugee Assistance

Support to Life (STL; www.hayatadestek.org/en/) is an independent humanitarian agency working in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and emergency response in Turkey and the surrounding region. With an emphasis on community participation, STL works at a grassroots level to build local capacity, mitigate the risks and impact of disasters, and support those in need in meeting their basic needs and rights. In line with its mandate STL currently has the following main activities:

  • Relief aid and protection for Syrian refugees: in response to the increasing number of refugees in Turkey, STL is supporting refugees living outside camps in the Turkish border area through a food security programme providing psychosocial support through the establishment of Community Centres;
  • Child labour in seasonal agricultural work: STL has been working with at-risk children, sensitising farmers and raising awareness among the public in an effort to contribute to eliminating child labour;
  • Civil Society Disaster Platform: in collaboration with partners, STL has launched a platform that will bring together civil society actors in sharing information and coordinating projects related to disaster management in Turkey.

We are currently looking for a Programme Coordinator for our Syria Relief Programme based in Hatay.

Overview of Syria Relief Programme:

  • Approximate budget: 3 million euro foreseen for 2014
  • Approximate staff: 90 – 100 foreseen for 2014
  • Project locations: Hatay, Sanliurfa and others in the region as agreed
  • Main thematic activities: Food security, protection, and psychosocial support

Overview of Syria Programme Coordinator role:

The Syria Programme Coordinator is the overall responsible for all STL activities in Hatay, Sanliurfa, and other locations in the region, including project development and strategic planning; project and team management; representation, networking and donor/partner liaison; and monitoring and reporting.
