A brief overview
Collect and analyze information related to traditional donor countries, with a view to identifying their policies and priorities as well as opportunities for strategic and thematic partnerships. Monitor the global development discourse and its key actors with a view to identifying evolving donor priorities and promising areas for possible new sources of funds for UNIDO’s programmatic activities.
Assist in maintaining policy level links with donor country governments and donor institutions, with a view to maintaining two-way communication about donor policies and priorities and UNIDO’s competitive strengths. Prepare and participate in missions to market UNIDO’s successes with a view to strengthening relations with donors, in particular from the Asia and Pacific Region, and to mobilize resources for UNIDO activities.
Conceptualize, develop and maintain UNIDO’s strategic relations with these countries and contribute to the monitoring of relevant political, social and economic trends with a view to identifying issues requiring specific actions from the Director General and ensuring an appropriate organizational response.
As contact point for selected donor countries, negotiate legal and administrative cooperation modalities for individual projects as well as for framework agreements, obtain internal clearance and ensure signature of funding agreements. Serve as focal point for donor queries.
In cooperation with branch directors and other staff responsible, identify and/or initiate programmes and projects based on donor interest. Advise staff in technical branches on donor-related aspects. Support the joint project development and approval process, and promote donor involvement in programme and project formulation.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
University - Master's degree or equivalent, in a relevant discipline with specialization in business administration,economics, law or international relations.Arabic (Fluent), English (Fluent).
UNIDO Languages:
English (Fluent), working knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French, is desirable.
Field of Expertise:
A minimum of 5 years of prior relevant professional experience, including at the international level. Experience in donor relations, including related administrative aspects is required. Experience with governmental donors in the Asia and Pacific Region, is an advantage. Good knowledge of the work of the Organization, its governing bodies, as well as experience in dealing with diplomatic missions expected. Ability to handle complex and sensitive issues highly desirable.
