The Arigatou International office in Geneva, Switzerland manages the Ethics Education initiative through its enhancement, further development and partnerships. It also serves as liaison office with UN agencies and child-rights-focused NGOs. The Accountant performs accounting and financial tasks. He/she is responsible for recording all the transactions, reporting and ensuring compliance with social and fiscal obligations of the office. He/she is also in charge of checking the transactions and complying to the local and relevant authorities.

Responsibilities of the Accountant:

  • Ensure that all invoices are correctly booked;
  • Reconcile the accounts (monthly, quarterly, yearly);
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, yearly closing reports in compliance with the appropriate accounting standards;
  • Perform social and fiscal declarations;
  • Reconcile all payroll-related accounts;
  • Prepare balance sheets, income and expenditure statements and other financial statements needed for quarterly and yearly reports;
  • Support budget monitoring;
  • Provide support for external financial audits;

Requirements:

  • Business degree in Accounting;
  • Other international degrees in Accounting are an important asset (CPA, ACCA, CIMA...);
  • Knowledge and experience using CRESUS Accounting software;
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel;
  • At least three years of experience as a certified accountant;
  • Experience monitoring expenses and accounting reporting;
  • Good verbal communications skills;
  • Strong attention to detail in all tasks;
  • Excellent organizational skills: the ability to track and follow-up on several accounting tasks and organize information systematically;
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Good interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity: the ability to work in a multicultural environment and successfully interact with people from different cultural and religious backgrounds;
  • Flexible work attitude: the ability to follow direction, work independently and effectively learn and work in a multicultural environment as well as self-motivate;
  • Excellent time management;
  • Discretion and diplomacy.

Reports to: Maria Lucia Uribe, Director Arigatou International, Geneva.

Timeframe: This is a part time position. The accountant is required to work 30% of the time a month (6 days a month). To start in the beginning of December.
