Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is looking for two engaged, organised, and bright interns to work with the WILPF 100 Anniversary!

Would you like to work with women, peace and security issues? Do you want to be engaged in an international movement to increase women’s participation and power to stop war? Do you want to experience the exciting – and sometimes chaotic – life of working in a grassroots organization with small budgets and big ambitions?

We are looking for two interns, who want to be our “WILPF 100” Conference and Congress interns during the spring of 2015!If you are interested in being part of organising the biggest Peace Conference of the century as well as the triennial WILPF Congress then apply now!

In April 2015, the oldest surviving women’s peace organisation turns 100 years old and we have just launched the anniversary celebrations. This is an extensive process, involving staff, volunteers, partner organisations and our national sections. We are also in full swing organising for the Centennial Congress, which will take place right before the Conference. The WILPF Congress is the highest decision making body of WILPF and the final authority in all decisions concerning the organisation.

Your tasks will include helping in coordinating the work, i.e. helping out with communication, coordination, logistics, research and administration.

Examples of tasks:

  • Be the focal point for the support to sections’ launch of the anniversary celebrations in their countries.
  • Contribute to the overall anniversary strategy, including conference programming, inviting speakers, fundraising strategies and logistics.
  • Develop materials, make graphics and write texts.
  • Help out with events preparation (coordination with participants, working groups, venue, etc.).
  • Developing volunteer packages and managing volunteers.
  • Be the focal point of all things Congress, including collecting all reports from our Sections, Working Groups, Committees and Subcommittees.
  • Contribute to the overall Congress strategy, including conference programming, fundraising strategies and logistics.
  • Develop information material, including researching section activities, making videos, graphics and writing texts.
  • Be at The Hague for the Conference and the Congress in April 2015.
  • Follow-ups after the events in The Hague.

Adding to these responsibilities, you will also be supporting the rest of the team on a regular basis, including weekly administrative and personnel tasks, like:

  • Update the international website.
  • Support in the daily administrative tasks: international directory; correspondence with members, sections, donors; minute taking; filing; archiving; etc.

As a member of the dedicated WILPF team, your tasks will be exciting, diverse, and challenging. The internship is perfect for an energetic, motivated and independent person who wants to discover the world of feminist organizations and activism.

1) Practical stuff

• Full-time internship from the beginning of January to May 2015

• Geneva-based internship

• Unpaid internship

• Cheap accommodation solution is provided

• Your travel to The Hague will be covered by us financially, but you need to be willing and able to go

2) Requirements:

• Pursuing a relevant degree i.e. Communications, Event Planning, Marketing, Gender Studies, International Relations or Law

• Experience in logistics, making travel arrangements, and event organising

• Good organizational skills

• Fluent in English is a must, knowledge of Dutch or French helpful

• Knowledge of online social activism

• Mastered Microsoft Office (word, power point and excel)

• Knowledge of Photoshop, Wordpress and InDesign - Adobe a plus

• Interested in WILPF’s mission
