Save the Children’s origins lie in emergency response and it has remained central to our work ever since. Our approach integrates our emergency and development work, through the medium of our country programmes, which we expect to have the expertise for both types of work. With the increasing frequency and severity of emergencies world-wide the organisation is in the process of increasing its standby capacity to support programmes. Also, with the ongoing transition to defining the ways of working with SCI, Save the Children UK will need to retain sufficient capacity to meet the growing global needs whilst also retaining the flexibility to enable both Global and UK facing work to be supported.
About the role
The post holder will enhance Save the Children’s global capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by humanitarian crises. Key deliverables:
- Ensure high standards of award management for SCUK Humanitarian funding in emergency programmes worldwide, working closely with global, regional & country-based teams and Save the Children International.
- Effective oversight of Humanitarian Award administration, donor compliance, and coordination of the portfolios supported (both Humanitarian Operations and Department funding).
About you
You have demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to directly manage a team, and interact effectively as a manager with all staff levels. You have experience in staff performance management, including addressing performance challenges, conducting regular performance reviews, and end-of-year reviews / evaluations. You have strong understanding of the award management cycle, and proposals submission best practices. Based on your solid experience in working with major donors, such as DFID, ECHO etc managing grants as well as cooperative agreement, you have acquired substantial knowledge of award management regulations and reporting requirement. You are also familiar with budget and financial report preparation. You have strong communication and problem solving skills; you have the ability to organize yourself, work under pressure, influence and challenge assertively with senior staff. The position is a permanent contract within a very vibrant and exciting team of highly skilled professionals. The salary package is competitive (£37,000 to 40,000 depending on experience) plus pension, with an opportunity to work with many stakeholders across the world.
