The Learning Officer is located in the new Evidence and Learning Team of Plan’s Quality Assurance Impact and Learning (QAIL) Unit, which is in turn in Programmes Directorate.

The Learning officer is a key member of the team, working to ensure that lessons learned in relation to impact and delivery are taken up across the organisation to improve the quality and design of future programmes. In doing so, our accountability to both beneficiaries and donors will be significantly improved. You will work closely with the M E and Impact Officer in the pursuit of these aims. You will develop an effective communications strategy to ensure that this knowledge is taken up, and will be encouraged to use new methodologies such as social media as well as more traditional methods such as workshops and newsletters to achieve our objectives.

It’s a permanent contract, and it’s a full time post at 34.5 hours a week (we finish at 4.30pm on a Friday).

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, confident and enthusiastic communicator (both orally and in writing), backed by excellent networking and negotiation skills, to create internal demand for, and then develop, M E and evidence and learning materials which will be used to increase the quality of Plan UK programming. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in the field of international development, excellent communication skills, and good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance and knowledge management systems and tools. They will be able to demonstrate ability to organise effective training events with minimal supervision, and develop innovative ideas to ensure learning is captured and embedded across the organisation.

The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 3) is £35,224 with future pay progression within the pay band from £35,224 to £37,078.
