Job description
UNOPS Sustainable Infrastructure Practice Group (SIPG) houses the UNOPS Disaster Risk Reduction/Resilience Programme as well as the closely related Infrastructure Assessment Project.
UNOPS has endorsed the commitments outlined in the UN plan of Action on Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilience, and is therefore working to develop and embed Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)/ Resilience in its activities and position UNOPS as a key technical partner in the implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience projects.
SIPG is looking to engage an Associate Programme Officer for the DRR/R programme. She/He will report directly to the Principal Engineer, Head of DRR/R Programme, and will be expected to meet below requirements;
Education
Master’s Degree in Disaster Risk Management, International Development, Engineering and/or another related field will be considered an asset. A First Level University Degree in related fields combined with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s Degree.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in the area of DRR, Resilience, reconstruction and recovery and/or project/programme management.
- Experience with a variety of institutions; including UN, NGO, government/public institutions, private sector, research/academia.
- Knowledge and experience working with various development / humanitarian context is required, with field experience considered an asset.
Language
Fluency in English is a requirement.
