It is Fairfood’s mission to improve the socio-economic conditions of vulnerable people, such as smallholder farmers, workers (especially women) and consumers in our food system and to ensure the sustainable production and consumption of food, by influencing the policies and practices of global food and beverage companies and governments.
Purpose of the position:
As a Campaign Assistant (Research) you will have a versatile position, working with a wide variety of research techniques related to the food industry. The topics concern matters related to labour rights, food markets, supply chain dynamics, certifications and other voluntary private initiatives. The outputs of your work will be used directly to inform the campaigning process. The position also allows you to get first-hand experience in the field of advocacy.
Position within the organisation:
Fairfood’s Advocacy department is composed of multidisciplinary teams working on advocacy interventions focused on various regions of the world (referred to as “Hotspots”). As a Campaign Assistant (Research), you will be working within Philippines (Land of Promise) Hotspot.Land of Promise is an advocacy campaign aimed at eliminating the worst kinds of labour practices from the pineapple industry in Mindanao, The Philippines.
Core responsibilities:
The core responsibilities include:
· Researching and creating internal reports on labour issues such as wages, worker health and safety and CSR profiles to support the campaign communication on wage issues;
· Analyzing quantitative data sets on labor issues;
· Providing input for campaign strategy implementation;
· Providing administrative support to the campaign manager;
Competences:
Demonstrated excellent research skills * Fluency in English (both verbal and writing) * Result-oriented, analytical skills, quality focused and able to work within agreed deadlines * Able to work independently and flexibly * Team player * Affinity with Fairfood International’s goals.
Knowledge & Experience:
Presently studying or have graduated from a higher education institution (HBO) or university, or have acquired an equivalent level of working and thinking through professional experience. Knowledge of the food and beverage industry, or a degree related to international and sustainability development studies, voluntary private standards and certifications, agricultural economics, labour law and sustainable development represent are a big asset.

This is an unpaid position, which is suited to acquire work experience in this particular field of work and at an NGO. You will have the freedom and opportunities to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. We value our volunteers to whom we offer reimbursement of home-work travel, flexible work hours, as well as lunch when they are in the office. To create a beneficial relationship for both parties we expect you to work for a minimum of 16 hours a week over a two-month period (with the possibility for extension).
