Job Title:Health Officer Reports to: Health Advisor Contract Details: One year contract Job Location: 52-55 Camden Street, Dublin 2 Pay Band: Pay band 4: €34,239 - €40,281 Job Purpose: Working within the Health Unit, delivering Health and Safety support and coordinating healthcare for Concern Worldwide international staff and their dependants. This will include accurate and timely administrative support to the Health Advisor. Main duties &
Responsibilities: · This is a Dublin based role, a large part of which involves acting as a liaison between new staff and various medical facilities to coordinate pre-employment medicals, illness during contract and insurance claims. This will be carried out remotely in most cases, via telephone, skype and email.
· Assist and support the Health Advisor in the screening of all medical reports for staff and their dependants working and travelling to our overseas countries of operation
· With the Health Advisor, respond to health queries from overseas and home staff
· Assist in provision of guidance for stress management and access to appropriate services
· Undertake pre-departure presentations for staff and visitors to the field and meet with individuals for health briefings.
· With the Health Advisor, monitor patterns of illness of staff overseas and on their return home.
· Develop and coordinate health action plans with staff where appropriate
· Update medical kits and supplies for overseas as necessary, including the provision of PEP to fields as required.
· Provide appropriate assistance alongside the Health Advisor when a person is medically evacuated
· Manage and maintain the medical filing system for current and ex-employees in a timely and efficient manner
· Liaise with Concern’s insurance broker in relation to claims information and renewals. Process medical claims and liaise with claimants overseas
· Keep a record of, and report to management on any Health, Health and Safety issues including accidents
· Support the Health Advisor in provision of advice and guidance to overseas national staff
· Contribute to the development of policy and procedures within the Health Unit and the HR department
· Compile and process cheque requisitions
· Provide cover for the Concern Emergency phone on a rota basis
· Undertake specific projects as required
· Keep up to date with current relevant research
· At all times act within your scope of professional practice
· Any other duties as required. Person specification: Essential:
· A primary nursing qualification
· An interest in tropical health and infectious disease
· Experience of compiling medical reports and maintaining confidentiality
· Experience of setting up and streamlining management information systems and procedures
· Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
· Excellent administration and organisational skills
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, happy to work on your own and also within a team
· Willing to undertake group presentations as part of the Induction programme
· Previous experience working in an acute clinical environment in multi- disciplinary team
· Evidence of the use of research to support best practice
· Highly motivated individual who has the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
· Empathy with Concern’s mission and values
· Willing to work flexible hours when necessary
Desirable:
Additional Public Health, Community Health, Occupational Health,
Stress Management training/qualification would be an advantage.
Experience of working in a developing country
Or any other criteria which we deem to be appropriate for the role.
